I have been focusing on more scrapbooking and have done a few really fun projects. One of my most recent is a shadowbox for my mom. We got some very old family photos from my cousin. In fact, they are so old we are having to guess who is in them. But, we found one that we believe is her grandmother and aunt. This photo would have been taken in the very early 1900's in France.
So, I decided I wanted to do something really vintage to create a timeless keepsake. I uploaded the photo to My Digital Studio and printed it in Sepia tones on Very Vanilla cardstock and it looked like a wonderful old photo. Then I started playing. I used a combination of Stampin' Up paper and products along with some non-SU paper by Kaisercraft and some wonderful Primo flowers. I wanted to use the new Striped Scallop thinlit die and it created an awesome lattice piece.....
I cut two of them and attached them using Tombo All-purpose glue. I put one to the very bottom of the page and the other to the very top. It leaves a gap between but, no worries.....I found a way to cover that up..........as you will soon see :) I cut the butterfly from one of the sheets of Kaisercraft paper....I used their "75 Cent" collection. It coordinates beautifully with Early Espresso, Always Artichoke, Hello Honey, and Baked Brown Sugar.
The flowers added the perfect touch. They are gold and have a metallic look that echos the vintage theme......

I also had a package of vanilla roses that I could mix in as well. I cut the leaves from Always Artichoke cardstock with the leaves in the Secret Garden (retired) framelits and added some Gold Baker's Twine to the back of the rose.
I cut a pre-printed shape from the Kaisercraft paper and stamped on my favorite sayings from the "Feel Goods" stamp set and attached it using glue dots to cover the gap between the scallop pieces.
I still had some of those wonderful large pearls that I was so sad to see retire so I added a few of them below the sentiment. I put some more flowers in the upper corner and decided some paper doilies would be a nice touch as well. I matted the photo using a base of Early Espresso and then a couple layers of the designer paper. I wanted to be more unique so I tilted the photo rather than placing it square to the mat.
I still need to purchase a frame (I have been hoping to find one that is vintage) but I will show you the finished page......
I just love the way it turned out and Mom was pretty happy, too. I love Stampin' Up but I sure have found some awesome designer papers to play with!! I have quite the stock of them so I really need to get to work and do some more projects.....my mom thinks I need a 12-step program to cure my addiction to paper purchasing...lol!!
